Koroni is an old town located on the southwest of the Peloponnese on the Messinian Gulf. The town is situated on a hill with narrow streets and stairways leading up to the castle. During the Middle Ages Koroni was a strategically important urban centre for Venetian ships heading to the Eastern Mediterranean.

Methoni and Koroni are sister cities and their fortresses are known as “The eyes of the serene republic”.
